TV & Media Walls with Real Relief
This is the most crowded category in the accent-wall market, and almost all of it is slatted MDF around a screen. Ours is cast plaster with real depth — sculpted, not routed — and it has to behave itself next to a lit television. From $3,800 in Jacksonville.
What it is
A sculpted relief field around and beside the screen, cast in gypsum plaster, fitted to the bracket and outlet positions you already have and painted as one surface.
Depth is the whole problem here. A television at night is a light source pointing sideways across the wall, and every millimetre of relief throws a shadow because of it. Deep, busy modelling right at the bezel fights the picture. So we keep the field shallow and open within roughly a hand's width of the screen and let the relief build outward toward the corners. When the set is off, the wall is the thing you look at; when it's on, it stays out of the way.
Cables and mounting are settled before we start. Power, HDMI and conduit go in the wall while it is still open — that's your electrician or AV installer, not us. The bracket anchors into framing, never into cast plaster. If it's a full-motion arm, we need its swing before the layout is drawn, or the relief gets scraped the first time somebody turns the screen.
We don't do the cabinetry. No floating shelves, no media console, no LED niche. That's a joiner's job — yours or one we work with. We do the wall.

Two configurations, each with its square footage, because "TV wall" means anything from a field the width of the sofa to a wall that runs corner to corner and up to the ceiling.

Stock, semi-custom or custom for this wall
Two of the four tiers apply here, and we'd rather explain why than pad the menu.
- No ready-made tier. A stock panel is a 24-inch square repeat. On a media wall it would have to be cut around the screen, the bracket, the outlets and usually a soundbar — four interruptions in one field. The repeat dies at every cut. Anyone selling you a stock panel for this wall is selling you cut edges.
- Semi-custom is the sensible default. Our pattern, your layout: the composition is drawn around the screen so the relief reads as deliberate framing rather than wallpaper with a hole in it.
- Custom is for the whole wall. Once the field crosses the corners and reaches the ceiling, the relief has to change as it travels — that is hand work over a cast base, and it's what the $100–130 per sq ft buys.
- No fully hand-sculpted price is published for media walls. At $240+ per sq ft across 110 sq ft, most of that money would sit behind a television. The same budget spent on a fireplace wall or a ceiling is money you can actually see.
Materials and how it lasts
Cast gypsum plaster — mineral, solid, and the honest opposite of what this category is usually made of. Slat walls are MDF: engineered wood that swells if it ever gets damp and has to be replaced rather than repaired. In a Florida living room that difference is not academic.
Plaster is an interior material and this is an interior wall, conditioned all year. It takes ordinary wall paint, so a repaint of the room doesn't cost you the relief — the effect lives in the shadow, not the colour.
Ten years in, the practical question is what happens when something hits it. A cast relief chip is filled, re-sculpted locally and repainted; we still hold the moulds, so there's no discontinued batch to chase. A damaged slat panel is a replacement, and by then the finish has moved on.

Questions about TV and media walls
How much is a sculpted TV wall in Jacksonville?
A semi-custom relief field around the screen, about 60 sq ft, is $3,800–4,500 installed. A whole custom sculpted media wall of about 110 sq ft is $11,000–14,000. Both include installation by our own team and a free measure within 40 miles of Jacksonville.
Do you build the cabinetry, floating shelves or media console?
No. We are a sculpture studio, not a cabinet shop, and we say so before you ask. We make the relief field; the millwork is done by your carpenter, or by a joiner we work with. Keeping those two trades separate is what stops a sculpted wall turning into a laminate box with texture printed on it.
Where do the cables go?
Inside the wall, before we arrive. Power, HDMI and any conduit are your electrician's or AV installer's work, and the bracket anchors into framing rather than into cast plaster. Give us the final outlet and bracket positions and we cut the layout around them. Retrofitting a cable route through a finished relief field is the one thing that genuinely cannot be done neatly.
Won't relief next to the screen be distracting?
It would be, if we used the same depth we use in a bedroom. A lit screen throws light sideways at night and every millimetre of depth reads as a hard shadow. So we keep the relief shallow and open close to the bezel and let it build outward towards the corners of the wall. The pattern should be something you notice when the television is off.
Can the television come off later, or be replaced with a bigger one?
Yes. The bracket is fixed to framing, so the screen unbolts like it would from any wall. A larger screen that covers more of the field is fine; a larger screen that needs the bracket moved means patching the relief, which we can do because we keep the moulds.
What if the fireplace is under the television?
Then it is a fireplace wall with a screen on it, and the fireplace clearances set the layout, not the television. We quote it from the fireplace side and the two fields are drawn as one composition.
