Restaurants, Lobbies & Showrooms
A dining room that hundreds of people photograph in a month is a different brief from a bedroom. Sculpted plaster relief for Jacksonville commercial interiors — priced by project, scheduled into your contractor's programme, and repairable in place when the room gets used.
What it is
A cast gypsum relief field for a public interior: the dining room feature wall, the backdrop behind the host stand or the bar, a lobby wall, a showroom backdrop. Modules are fixed, joints filled, and the field painted as one continuous sculpted surface.
Schedule is the first conversation, not the last. We come on after the wall is closed, taped and primed, and we would rather be ahead of final flooring and lighting trim. What cannot be compressed is the studio time: casting starts when the pattern is approved, so the date that matters is the approval date, not the install date. Give us the programme and we will say plainly whether it holds.
Wear is designed for, not hoped about. In a room where chairs, trays and shoulders reach the wall daily, we keep the lower band shallower and the modelling above the traffic line. When something does get damaged, it is filled, re-sculpted locally and repainted in place — we keep the moulds, so nothing has to be stripped and re-ordered.
What we don't do: exterior facades, millwork, cabinetry and display joinery. Interior relief only. That boundary is why the relief is good.

What this wall costs
This is the one page on the site without a fixed "from" number, and we would rather say why than invent one. Commercial areas run from a single backdrop to a whole dining room, access varies from a night shift to an open site, and a headline price would be guesswork. What we can publish honestly is the rate.
Semi-custom and custom relief
The same two tiers we use in houses: our patterns laid out to your room at the lower end,
hand-worked relief over a cast base at the upper end.
2–3 weeks semi-custom, 4–6 weeks custom.
Fully modelled feature wall
No repeating element anywhere in it — for the wall the room is named after and photographed for.
6–8 weeks from approval.
Send the area and the date
Square footage, a photo or elevation, and your programme dates are enough for a real range. For high-visibility venues, ask about our terms where we can photograph the finished wall and leave a small credit plaque.
Rates are installed, in the Jacksonville area. Substrate preparation, out-of-hours access and travel beyond 40 miles are quoted as separate lines rather than buried in the rate — you'll see them before you sign, not after.
Stock, semi-custom or custom for this wall
Commercial rooms use the same three production tiers as houses, but the balance is different: nobody puts a stock panel in the room their brand is photographed in.
- Ready-made doesn't apply. A commercial field is always sized to the room and cut around the fixtures, and the whole reason a venue commissions relief is that no other room in town has it. A catalogue panel defeats the purpose it was bought for.
- Semi-custom is the value answer for a large area on a real budget: our existing patterns, arranged and scaled to your elevation, at the lower end of the $60–130 per sq ft band.
- Custom is the usual choice for the one wall guests will stand in front of — hand work concentrated where people are close, quieter where they aren't.
- Hand-sculpted is for the signature room. From $240 per sq ft, modelled entirely by hand for that space. Slower, and the only version that is genuinely unrepeatable.
- Ceilings scale the same way and read strongly in restaurants — see ceiling relief and medallions, remembering that overhead work carries more labour and needs staging above 10 ft.

Materials and how it lasts
Cast gypsum plaster — mineral, paintable, and the same material family as the architectural ornament in buildings that have taken public traffic for a century. It is not printed board and it is not a vinyl wrap with a texture photographed onto it.
For a public room the decisive property is repairability. A chair back gouges the wall in year two; that area is filled, re-sculpted locally and repainted in place, and because the moulds stay in our studio there is no discontinued product to chase and no reason to close the room for a full strip-out.
Interior, conditioned spaces only. We don't put cast plaster relief on exterior facades, in unconditioned patios or in wet areas, and we'll tell you that at the walkthrough rather than after the first storm season.
- Painted finish — cleaned and repainted like any wall in the room
- Damage repaired in place from moulds we keep
- Sculpted and installed by our own team, not subcontracted out

Questions about commercial feature walls
What does a commercial feature wall cost in Jacksonville?
There is no list price for commercial work, because area and access differ on every site. The honest reference is per square foot: about $60–130 per sq ft installed for semi-custom and custom relief, and from $240 per sq ft for fully hand-sculpted work. Send the area and the drawings and you get a range, not a brochure.
How long from approval to installed?
The same ladder as our residential work: a semi-custom field is 2–3 weeks, custom relief 4–6 weeks, and fully hand-sculpted work 6–8 weeks. Most of that is studio time, so the days we occupy your site are the short end of it. Tell us your date and we will say plainly whether we can hold it.
Can you work to our contractor's schedule?
Yes, and it is easier if we are in the programme early. We go on after the wall is closed, taped and primed, and we prefer to be ahead of final flooring and lighting trim. What we cannot compress is the casting time in the studio, so the date that matters is when the pattern is approved, not when we arrive.
How does it hold up in a dining room or lobby?
Cast gypsum is a mineral material and takes ordinary paint, so cleaning is what it is for any painted wall. The real advantage in a public room is repair: a damaged area is filled, re-sculpted locally and repainted in place. We keep the moulds, so there is no discontinued product to match and no reason to strip a whole wall over one corner.
Do you do exterior facades or signage?
No. Cast gypsum relief is an interior material, and exterior work is a different technology with a different warranty. We also do not build millwork, cabinetry or display joinery. We sculpt the wall surface, and we would rather name that boundary than stretch across it.
We're a designer or architect on a Jacksonville project. How do you prefer to receive it?
Send elevations or a plan with the wall marked, the finish schedule if you have one, and the programme dates. We come back with a range and a sense of what the relief should do in that room. Speculative renderings are not our step one — the area, the access and the date are.
Send the elevation, the square footage and the date.
That is enough for a real range rather than a brochure. We'll come back within 24 hours with a couple of directions and an honest price — and if the date can't be held, we'll say so in the same message.
